Alexander Zverev v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and that came in the US Open earlier this year. Zverev, who ultimately made it to the fourth round, was a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 winner over Davidovich Fokina.

Zverev Pushed but Comes Through against Harris
It turned out to be an easy win in the end for Zverev but he was taken to the third set. The German started off rather well in his quarterfinal against Lloyd Harris, a qualifier, breaking him in the third game of the opening set, and then having another chance to do that in the seventh.
Harris held on there but failed to break back and lost the opening set 6-4.
And when Zverev broke his South African opponent again in the first game of the second set, the cookie seemed to have fully crumbled. It wasn’t to be though.
The 92nd-ranked Harris broke back to love in the very next game, and then did it once again at 4-3 to serve it out and level the match. A shocked Zverev, however, did not let that deter it too much as he stormed into the semifinal with three successive breaks of serve in the final set.
Zverev, who had a first round bye, had earlier come through in straight sets against Fernando Verdasco.

Fighting Fokina Continues to Impress
After a straight-set win over Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round of this competition, he has had a couple of scratchy wins but for a player ranked 71st in the world and looking to grow in ranking, a berth in the semifinal counts for a lot.
Especially given Fokina isn’t too old on the ATP circuit, having reached his first ever main draw last year.
More so, because his wins came against two very experienced players – Marin Cilic and Dennis Novak.
Against Cilic in the second round, he came back from a set down and then went on to win the second set in a tie-breaker before completing a three-set win. Things got slightly difficult in the last round against Novak though.
Tied at a set apiece, he went down a break early in the third and trailed his opponent 2-0. Fokina broke back immediately though, and then made it two breaks in a row to lead 3-2. Saving a break-point while serving at 4-3 he then broke his opponent for the third time to wrap up the set and the match to set this meeting with Zverev.
Zverev v Fokina Prediction and Tip
After his previous round, Zverev admitted he had relaxed a little after winning the first set and that allowed his opponent to make a comeback in to the match. Expect him to learn from that mistake and complete this in straight sets.
Tip: Zverev to win in straight sets: 4/7 (bet365)
