Pablo Carreno Busta v Kevin Anderson Head to Head

Spaniard In Midst of Strong Run Since Pandemic Break
Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta, has shown constant improvement in his game in recent years and had made his presence felt in the Grand Slams as well, reaching the semifinals of the US Open in 2017 and 2020 and the quarter-finals of the French Open in the same to years.
It has been a strong run for the Spaniard, since the return of the season after the Covid hiatus. Despite early losses at the Western & Southern Open and the Rome Masters, he put up a strong display at the both the majors in New York and Paris respectively. Carreno Busta was a semi-finalist at the US Open and a quarter-finalist at Roland Garros, putting up strong fights against the likes of Novak Djokovic.
After a disappointing early loss at Antwerp against eventual champion Ugo Humbert, the Spaniard looked in fine touch against Gael Monfils in the opener here, before Monfils withdrew with an injury trailing 1-6, 0-2. The strong run of the last couple months has moved Carreno Busta up to number 15 in the rankings and he will looking to end the season on a high.

Rusty Anderson on Difficult Comeback Trail
Former world number five Kevin Anderson had a very strong run in 2017-2018, making the finals of the 2017 US Open and the 2018 Wimbledon championships. He will always be remembered for coming back from two sets down to defeat Roger Federer at Wimbledon in the quarter-finals and then winning the epic semi-final against John Isner.
The last season and a half has not been the best for the big serving South African, who has had injury concerns resulting in lay-offs from the tour and lack of match practice and indifferent form.
Anderson has looked like getting into his some sort of form since the resumption of the season in August, but apart from back-to-back wins at the French Open before losing to Andrey Rublev at the end of week one, he has not managed to get any sort of momentum going.
Currently ranked number 111, Anderson played home boy Dennis Novak in the opener here, in what turned out to be a grueling encounter. Losing the first set in the tie-break, Anderson came back to win the next set 6-4, before finally winning the decider 8-6 in the breaker and securing his place in the next round.
Carreno Busta v Anderson Prediction and Tip
Despite leading the head-to-head, Anderson is not where he was with his game a couple years back, evidenced no more than by the almost 100 spots difference in rankings of both players. Anderson will be looking to continue his return to the old ways, but Carreno Busta is performing at a very high level right now. Expect a straight sets win for the Spaniard.
Tip: Busta to win in straight sets: 11/10 (bet365)
