Petra Kvitova vs Greet Minnen Head to Head
The two ladies have met just once on the tour, back in the 2019 WTA Stuttgart. Kvitova won that match 6-1, 6-4.

A Jittery Start for Kvitova in Melbourne
Petra Kvitova, currently ranked World No. 9, just played in her first sanctioned WTA event since last year’s French Open.
Competing in the Yarra Valley Classic in Melbourne, she started off with a bye into the second round where she faced Venus Williams. After beating her in straight sets with 7-6(5), 7-5, she met the 23-year-0ld Nadia Podoroska in the round of 16.
Despite starting as the favourite, the number 4 seed succumbed to Podoroska 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(7), in a fiercely contested tie. Nonetheless, the win would have given Kvitova some much-needed momentum ahead of the Grand Slam starting on Monday.
The Czech clearly has plenty of experience under her belt. As a two-time Wimbledon champion, she knows what it takes to win the big stage.
Plus, last season, she reached the quarterfinal in the Australian Open and the semifinal at the Roland Garros. She may be a bit rusty currently, but that is not to say that it will not change as she spends more time on the tour.

A Chance for Minnen to Shine
Minnen, currently ranked outside the top 100, will be looking to make a mark when she faces Kvitova in the first Grand Slam of the season.
An interesting piece of tidbit – she played in the Yarra Valley Classic too – just like Kvitova, and ended up losing to none other than Podoroska in the second round.
Prior to that, she played in the qualifiers for the Australian Open, securing her berth in the main round after beating Veronica Cepede Royg and Varvara Lepchenko. Minnen spent most of her time on the ITF circuit last season, with not much to show for. Among her promising results include a doubles-title from the 2018 Luxembourg Open.
Kvitova vs Minnen Prediction and Tip
Unless Kvitova stumbles dramatically or is still shaken by that loss to Podoroska, she should be able to win this match comfortably in straight sets. She is light years ahead in experience and has the form needed to win.
Tip: Kvitova to win 2-0 (bet365)
