Jennifer Brady v Barbora Krejcikova Head to Head
Brady and Krejcikova have never met before this.

Brady Tearing the Cover off the Ball
It is still too early to assume that perhaps Jennifer Brady has what it takes to carry the weight of expectations on her broad shoulders for this new season.
If Brady, and it is a big if, can somehow replicate the exploits of her extraordinary 2020 season, she is on course to achieve something special in her burgeoning career.
At 25, and already sitting at career-high ranking of world no.24, Brady knows the sky is the limit. But there have been far too many examples of players in Brady’s trajectory who have been to the sky and came crushing down to the earth. And in these disorientating times, the American should take one match at a time, one tournament after another.
After a shock first round defeat to Tamara Zidansek in Abu Dhabi, Brady has not taken her eye off the ball this week in Melbourne. She dismissed Svetlana Kuznetsova for the loss of three games in a brutal display of power tennis. And in her second round match, the surprise package of this embryonic season Marta Kostyuk could not live with her penetrating and bludgeoning forehand.
Brady’s serve was hitting all the right spots against the Ukrainian. She won 80% of points behind her first serve (28/35) and saved two of three break points. She also won six games in a row at 1-1 in the opening set to take a commanding lead that Kostyuk never quite recovered from.
Can she keep up that level against a giantkiller?

Krejcikova Upsets Rybakina
As the top players are refining their games and getting into shape for the upcoming first Grand Slam of the season, there is always the tendency that they will be caught cold in these lead-up tournaments. And so it happened on Friday, across multiple tournaments at Melbourne Park.
At the Grampians Trophy, it was Elena Rybakina – one of the WTA’s fastest rising stars – who fell to Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova in a 10-point third set tiebreak.
The tall Kazakh broke Krejcikova’ serve in the tenth game to clinch a tight opening set. Having wasted three break points early on in the contest, the determined Czech hit back with aplomb to break Rybakina’s monstrous serve twice in the second set.
The ensuing 10-point tiebreak was a real lottery and Krejcikova dominated it from start to finish, winning 10-6. It was her biggest career win by some distance against a player ranked no.19 in the world.
Brady v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip
What Brady possesses is a perfect blend of power and accuracy. Something Rybakina is still working on. Krejcikova is a good retriever of chasing down balls and putting them back in play to let the opponent go for an extra shot. I doubt this will work against the American.
Tip: Brady to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
