Belinda Bencic vs Lauren Davis Head to Head
Bencic leads Davis by 2-0 in the head to head tally. They last met in the 2016 Indian Wells OPen where the Swiss won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Bencic Looking to Snap Out of the Funk
Belinda Bencic, seeded 11th for the Australian Open, finds herself in a losing streak dating back to February last year. Even though she has hardly played any competitions last season, it is still something to ponder upon.
The 23-year-old Swiss participated in the Grampians Trophy last week but ended up losing in the opening match to Sorana Cirstea. Additionally, she also played in a separate doubles event in another Melbourne tuneup, partnered with Barbora Strycova.
The duo ended up losing that match to the pairing of Simona Halep and Daria Gavrilova.
Now, the former US Open semifinalist hasn’t won a match on the tour since the Qatar Open last year. She went as far as the quarterfinal back then but failed to develop any kind of consistency on the tour.
Even before that, she was struggling with her form – she lost in the early rounds in the Adelaide Open and Australian Open.
That said, World No. 12 has shown a great deal of promise through the last couple of seasons. She may not have a lot of titles but she does have a few scintillating wins under her belt that should help her get to a good start in Melbourne.

Davis Sailing in a Similar Boat
Lauren Davis, currently ranked World No. 75, too played in the Grampians Trophy last week. Just like Bencic, she too encountered a similar fate and lost in the opening game to Barbora Krejcikova.
That was her first sanctioned game since competing in an ITF event in Charleston in November. She lost in the quarterfinal of that one to 130 ranked Katarzyna Kawa.
While the 27-year-old did a decent job of keeping herself busy on the tour last season with many events, she hasn’t got a lot to show for it. Between August and October, Davis played in 6 tournaments and lost her opening match in all of them, including the French Open and the US Open.
Davis hasn’t won a singles title since 2017 and more than that, she has never made it past the 3rd round in a Grand Slam.
Bencic vs Davis Prediction and Tip
We will go with Bencic here, simply given her superior pedigree on the tour. She may not have the experience or momentum at the moment but does have the necessary tennis prowess needed to outclass an opponent like Davis.
Tip: Bencic to win in straight sets: 5/6 (bet365)
