Iga Swiatek vs Fiona Ferro Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two ladies on the tour.

Swiatek Eyeing Another Major Title
Iga Swiatek, the 19-year-old Polish sensation rose to fame and glory after winning the French Open last year. On her way to winning the first title and Grand Slam of her career, she beat the likes of Marketa Vondrousova, Simona Halep, Eugenie Bouchard, and Sofia Kenin.
In all fairness, she had been firing warning shots for a run like that in advance. For instance, in the Australian Open 2020, she reached the fourth round, upsetting Carla Suarez Navarro and Donna Vekic. Then later, in the US Open, she reached the third round.
Of course, the teenager has still got ways ahead of her to grow as a player and gain some much-needed consistency. Nonetheless, a confident performance like this, this early in the career only help her perform better on the tour.
Despite losing in the Gippsland Trophy last week to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the second round, Swiatek has done well to shake it off here in the major.
In the opener, she moved past Arantxa Rus with 6-1, 6-3 and followed it with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Camila Giorgi in the following round. She will now face an opponent who hasn’t been in that much of a fine touch herself.

Ferro Hoping for Palermo Heroics
2020 saw Fiona Ferro make some progress in the singles ranking as she reached her career-best figures of World No. 42. This feat was made possible by her run in the Palermo Open – one of the few events that the Frenchwoman featured in last year.
Storming past Giorgi and Anett Kontaveit, Ferro won her second singles title and carried that same momentum to the Roland Garros too, where she reached as far as the fourth round.
Now, barring aside her last week’s early exit in the Yarra Valley Classic, Ferro has found herself in with favourable results. Here in Melbourne too, things have worked according to the plan for her. So far, she has dispatched Katerina Siniakova and Elena Rybakina to reach the third round.
Interestingly, Ferro has never made it past the second round in this Grand Slam and by the looks of it, that may not be changing anytime soon.
Swiatek vs Ferro Prediction and Tip
In many ways, the two players are at a similar level of experience except Swiatek has a discernible edge, given her recent success. Expect the Pole to win here but the match is likely to see some fight from Ferro.
Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
