Johanna Konta v Shelby Rogers Head to Head
Konta leads 2-1 head to head.
This will be their first meeting in five years. While Rogers won the first match in Dothan in 2012, Konta avenged that defeat the same year in Lexington and then edged ahead with a win in Montreal in 2016.

Konta Looking To Overcome Slow Start
Former World No. 4 Johanna Konta will begin her Adelaide International campaign on Tuesday. The right-handed Briton, who got a first round bye, is 1-2 this season.
Beginning with a win over America’s Bernarda Pera at the Gippsland Trophy, Konta went down to Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu in a tough three-set Round-of-16 clash.
In her next match at the Australian Open, Konta, seeded 13th in the competition, led Slovenian qualifier Kaja Juvan 6-4, 0-2 before having to retire due to an injury.
A winner of three WTA titles, Konta, who found success in 2016 and 2017, saw a massive dip in form in 2018, before reemerging in 2019. She reached the semifinals at Roland Garros and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open and broke back into the top 20 in the world.
The 29-year-old was 8-9 last year, which included runs to two semifinals in Monterrey and Cinncinati.

Rogers Rolls Past Kudermetova
Facing Konta in the second round will be American Shelby Rogers, who defeated Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova in the first round of the tournament on Monday.
Rogers won 85% of her first serve points and converted three of 11 break points to win the contest 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
Ranked 53rd in the world, Rogers has begun the season well, reaching the quarterfinals at the Yarra Valley Classic and last 16 at the Australian Open.
A quarterfinalist at last year’s U.S. Open, the 28-year-old defeated Fiona Ferro, Rebecca Peterson and Petra Martic in the Melbourne warm-up before falling to eventual champion Ash Barty in the quarterfinals.
Barty stopped Rogers’ run at the Australian Open as well, defeating the American in straight sets after she had won her first three rounds against Francesca Jones, Olga Danilovic and 21st-seed Annett Kontaveit.
A two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, Rogers, who reached a career-high ranking of 48 in 2017, is still looking for her first title on the Tour. She has won six times on the ITF Circuit.
Konta v Rogers Prediction and Tip
The momentum is with Rogers (7-2 in 2021), but Konta is more experienced and has produced better results over her career, particularly over the last couple of years. However, the Briton is short of match practice this season. Expect a close contest with a third set separating the two.
