Millman’s Won Just One Match This Season
For a player who had made an excellent end to the season last year, having won his maiden ATP title late in October and having made it to the quarterfinal at the Sofia Open, Millman’s made a stunningly poor beginning to 2021.
Since winning one match at the ATP Cup earlier this season, Millman, who had lost one match in that tournament to Pablo Carreno Busta, has gone on a four-match losing spree. This consisted of defeats at the hands of Corentin Moutet, Matt Ebden, Alex de Minaur and Nikoloz Basilashvili, and all of which came in opening round of tournaments.
What would particularly surprise Millman is the lack of resistance he has shown in two of his previous three matches, only managing to take a set off Basilashvili in Doha last week.
Can Millman reproduce some of the form he had shown towards the end of the previous season, or does more misery await him with no light at the end of the tunnel?

Miralles Makes Second Tournament Main Draw
The Spaniard and world number 150 Miralles has been more pronounced in featuring at the Challenger level having made the final of one of them this season already. At the ATP circuit, Miralles had qualified to play in just one of the tournaments, making as far as the first round of the Montpellier Open but there he fell to Alejandro Fokina.
Here, in Dubai, Miralles made mincemeat of 39-year-old Omar Al Awadhy in the opening round of the qualifiers, beating him 6-0, 6-0 and then surprised the 75th-ranked Radu Albot to make it as far as the main draw.
Last season, Miralles had won his only Challenger title in two years but that win had come on clay – his favourite surface.
More interestingly, for someone who hasn’t won a singles main draw match at the highest level, this could prove to be a good opportunity to test a solid but off-colour player in their opening round encounter.
Millman v Miralles Prediction and Tip
While Millman’s poor form makes him vulnerable to a shock defeat, his opponent does a lot better on clay than hard courts surfaces and for that reason alone Millman should start a favourite..
Tip: Millman to win: 8/11 (bet365)
