Kristina Mladenovic vs Margarita Gasparyan Head to Head
The head to head tally is currently tied at 1-1, with Mladenovic last beating the Russian only a few weeks ago this season.

Mladenovic Playing in Familiar Territory
Kristina Mladenovic, currently ranked #6 on the doubles circuit, is looking to reach her first singles final on the tour since February 2018. Coincidentally, her last glorious run as a singles player came right here in St. Petersburg when she reached the final but lost to Petra Kvitova.
Just the year before, she had won the title beating Yulia Putintseva in the final. So far in her career, the 27-year-old Frenchwoman has won just 1 singles title and has 7 runners-up trophies. Of those 8 finals she has played in total, two have been in St. Petersburg, making this among her most successful singles tournament.
Given the season that Mladenovic has had so far as a singles player, she will be hoping for another run like that. In 2021, she has played in a handful of tournaments. Her best runs have been in the Australian Open and Lyon Open, where she reached the third round. Most recently, she played in Dubai where she was beaten by Jessica Pegula in round two.
As a doubles player, she has been highly successful with 24 titles, including 7 Grand Slams.

Gasparyan Looking to Tap into Home Advantage
The 26-year-old Margarita Gasparyan is currently World No. 126, which alone speaks scores about her recent form. The best she has done this season is reaching round two in the Lyon Open as a qualifier, where she was beaten ultimately by Mladenovic in straight sets.
Before that, she fell in the Australian Open first-round to Garbine Muguruza after making it to the main draw through the qualifying rounds. In the Gippsland Trophy and an ITF $100,000 event in Dubai, the Russian lost in the first round itself.
In fact, a majority of her previous season is dotted with performances like these. If anything, her run has gotten considerably worse over the years. Case in point, she was ranked in the top 60-70 in 2019 and now, she is entirely out of the top 100. Her inconsistencies are something that Mladenovic can definitely exploit in this match.
Mladenovic vs Gasparyan Prediction and Tip
Mladenovic is more than likely to win this match, it is just a matter of how big a margin she does it with. She has the experience and the skillset needed to dispatch Gasparyan with ease.
Tip: Mladenovic to win 2-0: 1/1 (bet365)
