Bianca Andreescu v Tereza Martincova Head to Head
Andreescu and Martincova will be facing off for the first time in a competitive match.

Andreescu Easing Back into High Level Competition
After helping herself to four WTA titles in 2019, including a US Open championship victory, Andreescu was expected to reach even more glorious heights the following season.
However, a knee injury forced her out of competitive tennis for over a year and just as she was about to make a comeback a myriad of reasons including a fresh injury and Covid-related lack of practice ensured she didn’t play the entire season of tennis in 2020.
Since the start of the 2021 season, the Canadian number one has returned to the sport and has featured in two tournaments. At the Australian Open this season, Andreescu won her first round match against Mihaela Buzarnescu in three sets before she was stunned by Hsieh Su-wei in the second round in straight sets.
The following week, Andreescu featured at the Phillip Island Trophy also played in Melbourne and this time around, the Canadian reached the semifinal. There she lost to Marie Bouzkova in a stiff three-setter.
At the Miami Open, Andreescu, who had last made the round of 16 in 2019, started off with a first round bye and now faces an opponent ranked outside the top 100.

Martincova Continues to Show No Mercy
After having made it to the main draw of this tournament with back to back straight set wins over Viktoriya Tomova and Harriet Dart in the qualifiers, Martincova continued her run by defeating Yaroslva Shvedova in another straight-setter.
Martincova needed just an hour and 23 minutes in dispatching Shvedova 6-4, 6-2 as she broke her opponent six times in the entire match. And while Martincova was broken thrice in return, she was never in danger of falling too much behind her opponent.
The Czech world number 105 raced off to a 5-1 lead before dropping her serve twice to give Shvedova a sniff. However, Martincova then broke her opponent yet again to clinch the opening set. In the second, her Kazakh drew first blood with a break first up but that was the closest she got to dominating as she lost the next four games in a row.
While Shvedova saved a couple of break-points to make it 2-4, Martincova closed it out with another break and hold.
Can her good form help her overcome the former Grand Slam winner as well?
Andreescu v Martincova Prediction and Tip
Andreescu is too short in my opinion at 4/11 for a player who has barely any tennis all season and has an injury issue she wants to look at before going full throttle. A games handicap for this looks a good idea.
Tip: Games Handicap Martincova +4.5: 4/6 (bet365)
