Elena Rybakina v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head
Rybakina, ranked 23rd in the world will play Sara Sorribes Tormo ranked 58th in the rankings for the first time on Sunday.

Rybakina Returning to Form
The start of the 2021 season seems like an orchestrated enigma as far as Elena Rybakina is concerned. Heavy-handed, and without back-to-back wins since the opening tournament of the tennis calendar in Abu Dhabi.
The struggle is even more mystifying, considering the Kazakh six footer has lost five matches this season. Four of those against players ranked below her in the world rankings.
As opposed to last season in which she made four finals by the end of February, Rybakina appears to be in danger of sailing the same boat of those earmarked as one-season wonders. But if we take a closer look at some of those defeats it is easier to fathom the root cause, particularly against players like Krejcikova, Siegemund and Ons Jabeur, who can simply disturb an opponent’s rhythm.
The defeat that is hard to stomach is the second round at the Australian Open when she was beaten by France’s Fiona Ferro.
Rybakina made sure there will be no repeat of Melbourne disappointment as she crushed Kaia Kanepi 6-4 6-0 in the second round of the Miami Open.

Sorribes Tormo Upsets Two Americans
As tennis struggles in another bubble year, Sara Sorribes Tormo has broke new ground in 2021 with a sensational title run in Guadalajara – her maiden WTA tour title.
The Spaniard is playing the best tennis of her career right now, highlighted by her rise into the world’s top 60 for the first time.
Sorribes Tormo registered her 10th match win 11 in matches after upsetting Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady 3-6 6-4 6-1 in two hours and 22 minutes. The American’s winless run will now extend into a third tournament, as Sorribes Tormo played her ninth match of the season that went past the two-hour mark.
Currently sitting at no.58 in the rankings, the 24-year-old called her victory over Brady as ‘one of the best’ in her career, which is quite paradoxical given how both players served poorly throughout the match.
Sometimes long matches are not a true reflection of quality, and although there were intermittent periods of good tennis in the first two sets, Brady’s level dropped considerably. Sorribes Tormo fed off the second serve with ease and broke the American seven times during the match to book her spot in the third round of Miami Open for the first time.
Rybakina v Sorribes Tormo Prediction and Tip
Sorribes Tormo regards clay as her favorite surface. In truth, her success on the hard courts of Guadalajara came out of the blue, and that has breathed new life into her game. However, Rybakina should be able to hold off what will be a spirited challenge from the Spaniard who seems to have little left in the tank.
Tip: Rybakina to win in three sets: 3/1 (bet365)
