Stefanos Tsitsipas v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head

Tsitsipas is 6-1 against the Pole.

The only time, the Greek lost to Hurkacz was at the Canada Masters in 2019.

Tsitsipas beat Hurkacz for the first time at the ATP NextGen Finals in 2018. Since then, he has defeated the Polish player in Marseille, Dubai and Shanghai in 2019 and at Rotterdam in 2020 and 2021.

Tsitsipas Eases Past Sonego

World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas needed an hour and 34 minutes to defeat 24th seed Italian Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round of the Miami Open on Tuesday.

The fifth seed didn’t face a single break point in the match, while he converted two of four on his way to a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory.

The win improved the 22-year-old to 17-4 this year.

The 2021 Acupulco finalist has made deep runs in all the tournaments he has featured in this season, but a sixth title has remained elusive.

This is the first time that the 2019 ATP Finals winner has gone past the fourth round in Miami.

Beginning his campaign in the second round, after receiving a first round bye, the Greek defeated Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur 6-1, 6-4 in the Round of 64, before needing three sets to knock out the 28th seed Kei Nishikori 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the third round.

A 13-time ATP finalist, Tsitsipas began the year with two wins at the ATP Cup and followed it with a run to a third major semifinal and his second in Melbourne before being beaten by Daniil Medvedev.

He also reached the final four in Rotterdam, but was stopped from advancing by another Russian Andriy Rublev. A shock defeat to France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert followed before he made it to his first final of the season in Acapulco. But he missed out on a first title since his 2019 ATP Finals victory, going down to Alexander Zverev in straight sets.

Hurkacz Rebounds To Stop Raonic

In the quarterfinal, Tsitsipas will meet Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, who fought back from a set down to overcome 12th seed Milos Raonic in the Round of 16.

The 26th seed hit just 31 winners compared to the former world No. 3’s 38, but made 16 fewer unforced errors to Raonic’s 50 to clinch the two-hour-and-21-minute contest 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).

The win over the World No. 19 came a day after the 37th ranked Hurkacz had accounted for World No. 11 and sixth seed Denis Shapovalov in the third round.

The 24-year-old Polish right-hander had needed an hour and 32 minutes to beat the 21-year-old Canadian 6-3, 7-6 (8-6).

The Pole had begun the Miami campaign by beating America’s Denis Kudla 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the Round of 64.

Hurkacz is now 7-0 in the U.S. this year, having won the Delray Beach Open title in January. The 6’5” Pole defeated Daniel Galan (Round of 16), Roberto Quiroz (quarterfinal), Chris Harrison (semifinal) and Sebastian Korda (final), all in straight sets, to clinch his second career title, adding to the one he won in Winston Salem in 2019.

Tsitsipas v Hurkacz Prediction and Tip

Both players are in good form, but it’s Tsitsipas’s dominance over the Pole in the previous encounters that gives him the edge. Also, the Greek has far more accomplishments at the top level and is the higher-ranked player and so will be the favourite. But he won’t take Hurkacz lightly, as the Pole has shown that he can cause an upset on his day.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 10/11 (bet365)
