Stefano Travaglia v Benoit Paire Head to Head
The pair have never met before. This will be the first match between the 29-year old Italian, and Paire, who is two years older.

The last time that Travaglia played in his home event, he reached the third round, the best he has managed in the main draw of a Masters’ event. He will settle for something similar this time round.
However, if recent form is any guide, the omens are not good.
Since he was knocked out of the Australian Open in the first round, his form has been poor, and he lost his next four matches.
He did qualify for Monte Carlo, but was beaten in the first round by Pablo Carreno-Busta, the same stage he was knocked -out of the Belgrade Open by Filip Krajinovic.
Travaglia then failed to qualify for Madrid last week, and has been given a wildcard for Rome.

Paire Finally Manages to Win One
Paire has made headlines for all the wrong reasons recently after he was banned by the French Tennis Federation from this summer’s Olympic team.
That followed a series of incidents, including being docked a point for spitting on court in Argentina, and a foul-mouthed outburst after he was knocked out of the Monte Carlo masters.
He has become disillusioned with playing in a bio-secure bubble and with few fans in the stands, sometimes giving the impression he wants to be doing almost anything else than playing tennis.
The Frenchman is not in good form right now – he has won two matches all year, although one came last week in Madrid, against Nikolaz Basilashvili of Georgia, winner of two tournaments already this year. That he fell to Stefanos Tsitsipas wasn’t that much of a surprise but Paire would hope he can build on that victory over Basilashvili.
Or at least some of his remaining fans would hope so.

Neither man is in good form coming into this match. Travaglia though has the advantage of playing in home conditions and surface that suits his game. He is tipped to beat the enigmatic Frenchman..
