Felix Auger-Aliassime v Federico Delbonis Head to Head

While Auger-Aliassime started out as a favourite in his first round match against Filip Krajinovic, he needed to get past Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman in the second round, a top-10 player who has had most of his successes on clay.
And Auger-Aliassime did that in fine style, carving out a 6-1, 6-3 victory to move into the third round for the first time in Rome. The match lasted only 61 minutes with Auger-Aliassime breaking his opponent five times in the match, while facing just one break-point.
The Canadian broke his opponent early in the first set and then consolidated that with another one in the sixth game before serving it out. In the second, Auger-Aliassime was up 2-1 after getting himself a break only to drop serve the very next game.
That didn’t deter the Barcelona Open quarterfinalist as he broke again to take a 4-2 lead and as Schwartzman served to stay in the match, carved out the game to love to finish off the encounter.
Auger-Aliassime’s consistency on clay has always been a concern, having lost in the first round at the Madrid Masters and the Monte-Carlo Masters as well, but with back to back wins here, he would feel slightly more confident coming into this one.

Delbonis Stunner for Goffin
It’s one thing that Delnnis defeated David Goffin in his second round encounter but quite another to have dropped three games in what can best be described as a drubbing.

Delbonis had earlier needed two wins in the qualifiers, including one against Frances Tiafoe to qualify for the main draw but since then it has been plain sailing. Eve against Karen Khachnov in the first round, Delbonis required three sets but once he had gotten going, the Argentine bagelled her opponent in the third.
