Andujar Shocks Federer
“I still cannot believe it,” is what Andujar said after getting rid of Roger Federer in the second round of the Geneva Open on Tuesday. And it was unbelievable to be honest, the manner in which the world number 75 came through against the 20-time Grand Slam winner and made it to the quarterfinal.
Here was a player who has made it to the quarterfinal of a competition this season only once. Here was also a player who had never defeated any of the Big Three players before this.
And here was a player who was down 2-4 in the final set with Federer having found some excellent rhythm at that stage.
But Andujar refused to throw in the towel, narrowly holding in the seventh game of the final set and then breaking back to make it 4-4. An easy hold followed soon after for the Spaniard before he got himself three match-points, winning off the third one.
The question is if he can maintain the kind of intensity you can expect from a match of this stature?

Stricker Continues to Surprise
Striker was 10/11 to win one set against Marton Fucsovics in their opening round match. Instead, he won two and dropped none as the Swiss wild-card cruised into the quarterfinal with an easy victory over the Hungarian opponent.
In a match lasting an hour and 38 minutes, Stricker demolished the higher pedigreed opponent, Andujar, 7-5, 6-4 to set up a quarterfinal outing with Andujar.
On his ATP tournament debut, Stricker had earlier sent Marin Cilic packing. Some of it could be blamed on Cilic’s recent struggles, especially on clay but for the 419th-ranked player to do it twice in as many matches is now tending towards it not being a surprise any more.
Can Stricker now make it three in three or would he have finally met his match?
Andujar v Stricker Prediction and Tip
Andujar starts off at 8/13 which means Stricker is not longer than 13[10 to win this – some unimaginable odds for Stricker given how it’s been for him..
