Karolína Muchová v Andrea Petkovic Head to Head
There have been no matches played between these two at the WTA or ITF level. They did meet once in an exhibition match played in 2020, where Muchova won by dropping just four games.

Despite having reached a career-high ranking of 19th at the moment, Muchova has a lot that’s still to be done on clay. And there were a few signs of things changing for the better in her last appearance which came in Madrid.
Having featured thrice at the French Open and won just one main draw match, Muchova would have been glad to see herself in the quarterfinal at the Madrid Open earlier this month.
And that appearance came at the expense of Wang Qiang, Naomi Osaka and Maria Sakkari. The two weren’t even easy wins but Muchova’s fighting spirit, which had been on display even during the Australian Open in her match against the world number one Ash Barty, came to her rescue as she carved out three-set wins over them.
Coming into this edition of French Open, Muchova will have a lot of expectations from her own set having carved out a 11-3 win-loss record for the season. And if she can keep her fitness about her, the Czech could have a good chance here.

Former Semifinalist Petkovic is in the Career Twilight
Once ranked ninth in the world, Petkovic has fallen out of the top 100 at the moment and comes into this year’s French Open on the back of no main draw wins on clay in 2021.
As a former French Open semifinalist, Petkovic would have hoped to come into this tournament with some confidence but it’s been that kind of season or two.
Last year too Petkovic played in just one match post the pandemic break and lost that opener at Roland-Garros. She kick-started this new season with an opening win at the Gippsland Trophy over Martina Trevisan but from there on her form has deteriorated.
Only one other main draw victory has followed, and she has also gone on to lose three tournament qualifiers. Petkovic will need a miracle to get out of her opener here.
Muchová v Petkovic Prediction and Tip
Muchova is a heavy favourite here and given the kind of form with which she is coming into this match as opposed to Petkovic’s struggles, a straight-set win looks likely.
