Shelby Rogers v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two. Rogers defeated Peterson at the Yarra Valley Classic earlier this year, winning the Round of 32 contest 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

2016 French Open quarterfinalist Shelby Rogers comes to Roland Garros with a 15-10 record in 2021.
The 28-year-old American, who reached her second major quarterfinal at the U.S. Open last year, began the season by reaching the last eight at the Yarra Valley Classic. Rogers defeated Fiona Ferro, Rebecca Peterson and Petra Martic in the first three rounds but lost to Ash Barty in the quarterfinals.
The World No. 1 defeated Rogers once again at the Australian Open, but not before Rogers had produced her best result at the Melbourne slam by knocking out Francesca Jones, Olga Danilovic and Annett Kontaveit before running into Barty in the fourth round.
Rogers’ impressive run continued at Adelaide International, as she defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Johanna Konta to reach the quarterfinal before going down to Cori Gauff in a close three-set contest.
The American, who is a two-time finalist on the tour, could only reach as far as the second rounds in Dubai and Miami, before winning her first two round at the Volvo Car Open and reaching the Round of 16. However, it was Barty who beat Rogers for a third time in the year to end her run at the WTA500 tournament in Charleston.
Rogers also featured at the WTA 250 in Charleston, reaching the quarterfinals by winning the first two rounds before falling to Danka Kovinic.
The American began her European clay season with a fourth defeat to Barty in 2021, falling to the Aussie in the Round of 64 in Madrid. She also exited the WTA 1000 in Rome without registering a win, but ended the three-match skid in Strasbourg this week by beating Christina McHale in the first round. She was however beaten in the next round by World No. 170 Jule Niemeier.
In 2016, Rogers had reached the fourth round of the French Open by knocking out Karolina Pliskova, Elena Vesnina and Petra Kvitova in the first three rounds before being ousted by Irina-Camelia Begu. Last year, Rogers had suffered a shock first-round defeat to qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova.

Peterson Has Winning Record on Clay in 2021
Facing Rogers in the first round will be Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson, who is 8-7 in 2021 and 4-3 on clay.
The 25-year-old, winner of two WTA titles, Peterson will be featuring in her fourth French Open this year. She won her first-round matches in 2018 and 2019 but lost in the second round on both the occasions. Last year, she was knocked out by Alison Van Uytvanck in the first round.
Peterson’s best performance at a Grand Slam was at the U.S. Open in 2018, when she reached the third round.
This year, the aggressive right-hander has reached three quarterfinals, including two on clay. Peterson defeated Anastasia Potapova, Greet Minnen and Olivia Gadecki to reach the last eight at the Phillip Island Trophy but her run ended with a straight sets defeat to Danielle Collins.
On clay, Peterson reached the quarterfinals at the WTA125 in Saint-Malo and the WTA 25o in Belgrade. The World No. 60 ousted Nina Stojanovic and Ajla Tomljanovic before falling to Paula Badosa in the last eight. This week, Peterson lost a very close first round contest to Yulia Putintseva in Strabourg.
Rogers v Peterson Prediction and Tip
Although Peterson has won more over the last one month, Rogers will still be the favourite to advance. The American is vastly experienced, particularly in Grand Slams and has overcome some big names over the last one year. Expect this to be a close battle with Rogers going through in three.
