Carlos Alcaraz v Bernabé Zapata Miralles Head to Head

Their only previous meeting in a competitive setting came on the Challenger tour last season. Alcaraz defeated Miralles in the final of the Cordenons Challenger to win the title.

Alcaraz with Eight Wins in a Row

They might not have come at the highest level but Alcaraz waltzes into this year’s French Open with eight wins in a row. Five of those came at the Oeiras Challenger where he won the title by beating Facundo Bagnis and he followed that with three breezy wins in the qualifiers of the French Open.

What makes those wins here in the qualification rounds even more special is the manner of those victories.

Alcaraz, tipped to be a player to watch out for in the future, dropped 11 games spread across six sets in three matches to make it through and now gets a chance to double his main draw wins tally at Grand Slams.

Because at the Australian Open earlier this year, Alcaraz had clinched a straight set win over Botic Van De Zandschulp in his opener.

A semifinal appearance at the Marbella Open sealed his place in the top 100 and he will start off with a load of confidence here,

Zapata Miralles Steadily Rising Too

He might not quite be a precocious teenager, but Zapata Miralles has shown signs of a rise too this season. Much like his opponent Alcaraz, Zapata Miralles has also won a Challenger title on clay this season, and reached the final of one other on indoor hard.

And other than that, Zapata Miralles’s record at the highest level has also improved.

Three of his four career match wins on the circuit have come in 2021, with the Spaniard reaching the second round in Dubai and the third in Barcelona. Wins over John Millman and Fabio Fognini would have helped instilling that self-belief no end.

While he is up against a player who has form and exuberance of youth on his side, Zapata Miralles should be able to put up a decent fight here.

Alcaraz v Zapata Miralles Prediction and Tip

Two in-form players face off, with Alcaraz holding bit of an edge. While we think Alcaraz is a favourite too, odds of 2/7 for his win don’t do justice to Zapata Miralles’s chances in this encounter. Expect the latter to win at least a set.

Tip: Alcaraz to win AND Both players to win a set: 7/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
