Casper Ruud v Kamil Majchrzak Head to Head
While these two players haven’t faced off at the highest level, they have been involved in two previous matches at the Challengers and Futures tournaments. Both matches were won by Ruud including one on clay.

Ruud could have well become just the fourth player to lose to Benoit Paire since the return of the sport from the pandemic-induced break last August.
Such has been Paire’s woeful form and attitude that when he won the first set in this first round match against Ruud, it already sounded like a win. Like he cares.
In the end, however, Ruud fought back from a set and a break down, to carve out a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (4) win over the Frenchman, needing slightly over three hours to get to there.
And that would come as a huge relief for the Norwegian, who had entered the French Open this year on the back of some excellent form and with hope to carve out his best showing here – which at the moment reads a third round in successive years in 2019 and 2020.
In order to first emulate that, Ruud takes on Poland’s world number 126 who just won his first Grand Slam match at a major other than the US Open.

Majchrzak Gets Past French Wildcard
Having finally won a main draw match on clay this season in the lead-up to this competition, Majchrzak got a chance to double that count when he took on French wildcard and 452nd-ranked Arthur Cazaux in his opener here.
And Majchrzak registered a four-set win to do exactly that and in turn, carve out his first ever win at Roland-Garros.
Majchrzak, who has a career-best ranking of 83rd in the world, has done well on clay in his lower circuit days. Eight of his 11 Challenger and Futures titles have come on dirt, and his previous two over the last two years were both on the same surface and included a title-decider win over Pablo Andujar.
Having defeated the likes of Gianluca Mager, Alexei Popyrin, Yoshihito Nishioka, Liam Broady and Joao Sousa in 2021 itself, Majchrzak would believe he belongs to the top 100 if not better.
And a solid showing against Ruud could just prove that.

Ruud’s brilliance on clay has been well-chronicled as he enters this match on the back of a 16-4 win-loss record on the surface this season. Backing him to win but for Majchrzak to put up a fight.
