Novak Djokovic v Stefanos Tsitsipas Head to Head
Djokovic leads the head-t0-head 5-2. Their last two matches have been on clay with Djokovic winning both, in Rome last month in a decider and at the French Open semi-finals in 2020 in a tight five- setter.

Djokovic Accomplishes Herculean Task In Semi-Final
World number one and 2016 French Open champion Novak Djokovic has been in search of a second Roland Garros win and a 19th major over this fortnight. Djokovic started the season well, being undefeated at the ATP Cup and registering a ninth Aussie Open title at the start of the season. An abdominal tear saw him out for the rest of the hard court and indoor season, returning only for the clay swing at Monte Carlo.
It was a mixed clay court season for the Serb building up to the French Open, with early losses at Monte Carlo and Belgrade-1 and then a final run at Rome before losing out to arch rival Rafa Nadal there in the final. Djokovic played at his home tournament Belgrade-2 right before Paris, and added another title to his cap and came in to Roland Garros high on confidence.
In the same half of the draw as Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer, Djokovic stressed on the importance of a confidence boosting opening week and so it was with clinical wins against Tennys Sandgren, Pablo Cuevas and Ricardis Berankis. The Serb was pushed by both rising Italian stars Lorenzo Musetti and Matteo Berrettini in the next two rounds but came out on top setting up a blockbuster semi-final against his arch-rival Rafa Nadal.
With a 29-28 head-to-head in favor of Djokovic, it was the 1-7 head-to-head here at Roland Garros against him that was most compelling. It looked like we were headed for another Nadal win as he raced to a 5-0 lead in set one and although Djokovic came back for 3-5, it was a 6-3 set for the Spaniard.
The second set saw the Serb break early for a 2-0 lead but Nadal broke right back and just as he looked like getting back into the set, another Djokovic break followed and with a 6-3 win, it was one set all. It was an epic 92-minute third set with multiple breaks of serve where both players had chances to close the set, but the world number one eventually won a marathon set, 7-4 in the tie-break.
Nadal raced off to a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but a mix of the occasion, tiredness and Djokovic’s play saw a quick end with the world number one breaking Nadal three times to close the match 6-2 in the fourth. It was a 3 hours and 28 minutes match of the highest level of shotmaking and intensity and one for the archives.
The reign of the 13-time champion at the French Open seems to have ended for now, and with one match away, Djokovic stands on the cusp of winning 19 majors, just one behind Federer & Nadal and becoming the first man to ever win all majors at least twice.

Tsitsipas Continues Clay Run For First Slam Final
22-year-old Stefanos Tsitipas has had a strong season thus far. Starting the year with consecutive wins at the ATP Cup and a semi-final showing at the Aussie Open (defeating Rafa Nadal en route), Tsitsipas continued his strong run despite missing out on titles, notably at the ATP 500 final at Acupulco against Alexander Zverev.
The Greek’s strong run continued on clay where he won his first ever Masters 1000 at Monte Carlo as well as winning the ATP 250 in Lyon and being one point away from clinching the Barcelona ATP 500 final against Rafael Nadal. Tsitsipas came to the French Open as third in line among favorites for the title behind Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic and looked on course for a deep run.
Without too many challenges, the fifth seed saw his way through the first week convincingly and one expected his first big challenge to be Daniil Medvedev in the quarters. The Greek started strong and although there were a few chances for the Russian to come back into it, it resulted in a straight sets win for Tsitsipas and one that did wonders for his confidence against an opponent who has had a far superior lead in their head-to-head.
In the semis against another fellow Next Gen Alexander Zverev, Tstisipas was off the blocks in a jiffy and up two sets to love. Although the German fought back to take this into a decider, Tsitsipas held his nerve and maintained his level playing the big points with artistry, and in turn winning the match in five sets, setting himself up for his first ever Grand Slam final.
Djokovic v Tsitsipas Prediction and Tip
It promises to be an exciting final between the world number one and the Next Gen star from Greece. The two players lead the ATP race to Turin at year-end and have very much exhibited the reasons over these two weeks.
Expect a well-fought match and will be important to see how Djokovic recovers from the intensity of the semi-final, but will be difficult to stop him now. The Serb to win his 19th major in four sets.
Tip: Djokovic to win in four sets: 7/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
