Aslan Karatsev v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

No previous matches have been played between Karatsev and Norrie before this.

Karatsev Needs Three against Tabilo

Karatsev became an overnight sensation earlier this year with his 13-3 win-loss record on hard court surfaces, which included a stunning run to the semifinal at Australian Open and a title win in Dubai.

However, he would have been doubly pleased when he passed another test; making the switch to clay and doing reasonably well – a final in Belgrade and a third round appearance at Rome forming a part of his best results.

And in the first round here in London, Karatsev played his first career match on grass. It was always going to be interesting to see how he adjusts to it and while he did struggle a little, the Russian came through in his first round encounter against Alejandro Tabilo.

Karatsev overcame the loss of the first set to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 39 minutes. After dropping his serve twice in the first set, Karatsev broke his 171st-ranked opponent once in the second and twice in the third set to clinch the victory.

He now faces another test in the form of Norrie who is a Brit, has had his experience playing on grass and coming off a decent season too.

Norrie Also Registers Scratchy Win

Much like his opponent in this second round match, Norrie also needed to overcome a one set deficit before coming through to the second round.

The Brit defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to continue with his good form and march in the second round of a tournament he has never won a match at before.

Norrie was on court for two hours and nine minutes, and in a cagey affair which saw just one break of serve in each of the three sets, came through because of his better serving. With 14 aces and a first serve statistics of 71% serves in and 75% of those points won, Norrie held a distinct advantage over his opponent through the last two sets.

He will now enter his second round match knowing the magnitude of the contest on hand but with some quiet confidence about his serving bailing him out.

Karatsev v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Interestingly, despite Karatsev’s higher rank, it’s Norrie who starts off a favourite here at 4/6. Backing Karatsev to win at least a set here though, given his own good form.
