Felix Auger-Aliassime v Ugo Humbert Head to Head

There have been two previous matches played between these players and the scoreline is 1-1 so far.

Interestingly both their previous matches came on grass including one as recently as last week in Stuttgart where they faced off in the quarterfinal. That match was won by Auger-Aliassime in two tie-breakers.

Auger-Aliassime a Step Away from Another Final

Such have been Auger-Aliassime’s fortunes, getting to another final by winning this match might not take him over the moon. His record in title-deciders is the reason for that with the Canadian having reached eight finals and won none, yet.

It would also be an opportunity though, another one at that to break the jinx or the mental barrier he seems to be encountering in finals.

Because getting to the finals doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for the world number 21. In this very tournament, Auger-Aliassime has already overcome Roger Federer other than shocking Hubert Hurkacz and crushing Marcos Giron in their previous encounter.

The Giron win was his easiest and representative of the odds on offer too – defeating the American 6-3, 6-2.

Last week too, Auger-Aliassime had made the final on the grass courts of Stuttgart Open but fallen to Marin Cilic. And he will start off a favourite here to do that yet again.

Humbert Stretches Past Korda

It was his fifth win on grass this season with Humbert’s only loss having come to Auger-Aliassime last week. He’s now gone one better here in Halle with a difficult but highly satisfying win over Sebastian Korda, overturning a tie-breaker loss on the way.

Humbert was on court for two hours and 33 minutes for his 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4 win over Korda with the Frenchman broken just once all match in the process. On the other hand, Korda dropped his serve four times, including thrice in the opening set.

The second set went to serve with Korda getting a set-point at 4-5 but finally wrapping it up in a highly-entertaining tie-breaker.

And when in the third, neither player was able to force a break of serve till the end of the ninth game, it seemed like another tie-breaker was in the offing. At this point, Humbert broke Korda who was serving to stay in the match and sealed his semifinal berth.

The stakes go higher for Humbert now who will be gunning for his third ATP final. Interestingly he has won both his previous two.

Auger-Aliassime v Humbert Prediction and Tip

Auger-Aliassime is a favourite at 8/11 and we think those are solid odds to back him for a victory after having beaten Humbert last week and made the final of a grass court tournament..
