Ruusuvouri, a Novice on Grass

Ruusuvouri has no known form on grass, and has never plated at Wimbledon before.

Instead, he was brought up on hard courts, winning all ten of his tournaments on the junior tours on that surface.

It was no coincidence that his best performance of the year – and the best result has ever managed in a Masters event, came in Miami in March on that surface.

The European clay court season went less well for the Finn, and he lost all four matches he played on clay, including a first round defeat at the French Open to Mackenzie McDonald of the USA.

Since then, he failed to qualify for the Stuttgart Open on grass – he beat Joao Sousa of Portugal but the lost to Radu Albot of Moldova in the second round of the qualifying competition.

Ramos-Vinolas, a Winner in Estoril

Last month, Ramos-Vinolas won his third senior ATP career title in Estoril beating Cameron Norrie in the final. That though was on clay, where all but one of his finals, and all of his tournament’s wins have come.

Grass is not a surface he was familiar with in his youth, but he since gone to make the third round of Wimbledon on two occasions.

Since that Estoril win though the Spaniard has played sparingly. He reached the second round of the Madrid Open before losing to Federico Delbonis of Argentina, but then lost in both the first round of the Rome Masters and the French Open, beaten in the latter by Gael Monfils.

In his first match of the year on grass last weekend, he lost in the first round at Queen’s ton the man he beat in that Estoril final, Norrie, going down in three sets.

Ruusuvouri v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip

Neither man is known for their ability on grass, but the Spaniard does have two third-round appearances in Wimbledon in his favour, and that greater experience may give him the edge.
