Marin Cilic v Salvatore Caruso Head to Head
Cilic and Caruso have not played each other before this.

Cilic Rediscovers Winning Touch on Grass
Marin Cilic has been in great touch lately after falling from grace in the previous few years. He won his 19th career title in Stuttgart – his first title win in almost three years – besting the likes of Nikoloz Basilashvili, Denis Shapovalov, and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Cilic has enjoyed a terrific turnaround in fortunes after a torrid time in the early part of the season. He has won 17 matches in 2021, with seven of them coming on the grass. It is somewhat perplexing just how a change of surface can bring about a change in a player’s fortunes in tennis.
By his own lofty standards, Cilic’s form outside grass, was modest, to say the least. A semifinal showing at the ATP 250 event in Estoril was his best result on any surface before Stuttgart. But the transition to the lawns has been seamless.
His quarterfinal defeat to Alex De Minaur at Queen’s Club in his most recent outing could be a blessing in disguise given just how much energy the Croat had invested in the last fortnight. Cilic is on a collision course against Daniil Medvedev in the third round.
However, the 32-year-old will need to navigate his way past Italy’s Salvatore Caruso first.

Caruso Among Many Italians In Main Draw
Italy is among the most represented nation in the men’s singles main draw at Wimbledon. As many as ten Italians have booked their spots in the main draw, and one of those is the 97th-ranked Salvatore Caruso who has one of the most difficult assignments in the first round.
Caruso has never won a main draw match at Wimbledon, losing in his lone appearance in 2019 to Gilles Simon in straight sets. Aside from that, he failed to qualify in three previous attempts.
His bid to qualify for Grand Slam main draws has been boosted by his ability to maintain a top-100 ranking in the last couple of seasons. Caruso’s form on the grass at Wimbledon’s tuneup events includes a first-round exit in Mallorca at the hands of Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic.
Caruso arrives at Wimbledon on a seven-match losing streak, and with very low expectations, if any, to make an imprint at the grass-court Slam.
Cilic v Caruso Prediction and Tip
Cilic is a dark horse in the fourth quarter of this year’s draw. He has been in splendid form on the grass and looks a good bet to reach the second week. Expect him to power past Caruso in a comfortable fashion.
Tip: Marin Cilic to win AND under 30.5 games: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
