Wimbledon 2021 kick starts on Monday, June 28 with its first round matches and below are few of our top betting tips for this opening round of action.

Andy Murray v Nikoloz Basilashvili

It’s Murray’s first match in a while as he looks to make another comeback from injury and it would be a huge occasion for the Scot at a competition where he has claimed a Grand Slam.

And he might not have played in a while and is facing a seeded player in the form of Basilashvili but bookmakers don’t have a lot to choose between the two – Murray is 10/11 to win this with bet365 while SpreadEx are offering 19/20 for a Basilashvili win.

I get that. After all, Murray’s been out of action and it’s always difficult to predict how the body reacts to the return, especially in a best-of-five encounter while Basilashvili blows hot and cold at times. Basilashvili, however, is coming off a solid run at Halle where he made the semifinal and that’s where one might think he holds the edge.

However, we will go with our gut feel here and given it’s the centre court and Murray has had so many memorable times here, we believe he could hold the slightest of edges to make round two.

Tip: Murray to win: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Garbine Muguruza v Fiona Ferro

On the one side is a former champion and on the other is a player who has never won a match on grass.

Muguruza is a runaway favourite to win this except for the fact she has had a few fitness concerns in recent times. On the other hand Ferro was sent packing in her opener at Birmingham by Kristina Mladenovic and then failed to qualify for Eastbourne International, losing in straight sets to Vera Zvonareva.

Expecting Muguruza to seal a straight-set win despite that niggling worry about her fitness given she did play three rounds at German Open – that’s 4/11 with bet365. A slightly riskier option would be to go with a double of a Muguruza win and under 18.5 games in the match.

Dan Evans v Feliciano Lopez

Evans is a seeded player and hasn’t done too badly in recent times but he is up against a veteran in Feliciano Lopez whose best results have come on grass. While Evans’ recent form and Lopez’s choosy schedule could go in favour of the former, we think this could be a closer match than what the odds suggest.

Because despite that, Lopez reached the quarterfinals in Mallorca recently, defeating Karen Khachanov on his way while earlier having pushed Denis Shapovalov to three sets at Stuttgart.

Evans has had a similar recent showing on grass which could make this a fighting battle which goes right down to the wire.
