Ash Barty v Carla Suarez Navarro
World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty will face the former top 10 player Carla Suarez in her opening match at Wimbledon. This is their first meeting on the WTA Tour.
The 25-year-old cricketer-turned-tennis-star has had a phenomenal season in 2021, comprising three singles titles and a runner-up feat. Barty started the season by winning the Yarra Valley Classic and followed it with title runs in the Miami Open and Stuttgart Open. She was on track for a similar run in the Madrid Open as well but was stopped by Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
Since then, Barty has retired mid-game in the early rounds of the Italian Open and French Open. Consequently, Wimbledon is her first grass tournament of the season.
As for Carla Suarez Navarro, she is competing for the last time on the WTA Tour. Having successfully beaten cancer, the 32-year-old is now on her farewell tour which started at the French Open last month. Over there, she fell to Sloane Stephens in the opener.
Navarro has the experience but a lack of momentum and form may prove to be problematic for her.
Tip: Barty to win AND Over 17.5 games in the match: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Cori Gauff v Francesca Jones
This is a battle of two youngsters – on one hand, there’s the 17-year-old American prodigy Cori Gauff (World No. 23) and on the other, we have the 20-year-old local wildcard, Francesca Jones.
Gauff is playing at Wimbledon after two years since her stunning debut where she reached the fourth round (after beating Venus Williams in the opener). Since that sensational run, the teenager won a couple of singles titles and most recently, reached the quarterfinal in the French Open. Her grass-court swing, however, didn’t go according to the plan as she fell to Anastasija Sevastova in the second round.
Meanwhile, home favourite Jones, currently ranked outside the top 200, is making her main draw debut at the SW19. Born with three fingers and a thumb on each hand due to a rare genetic condition, her doctors had predicted at an early age that she would never become a professional player.
But the youngster has overcome all odds in the face of such physical adversities to build a tennis career. She has seen some success on the ITF circuit but now it’s the time to play with the big guns.
Tip:
- Banker Option: Gauff to win in straight sets: 4/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- Moderate Risk: Gauff to win AND Under 17.5 games: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Roger Federer v Adrian Mannarino
Eight-time Wimbledon Champion and 2019 finalist Roger Federer will face the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in his highly anticipated match here in London.
The Swiss holds a comfortable 6-0 lead over his 32-year-old adversary, coincidentally last beating him in the fourth round of the Wimbledon 2018.
Federer has approached this season on a cautious note to ensure he doesn’t pick up any injuries. With only four tournaments under his belt, he may be lacking momentum but makes up for it with his experience and form, particularly on grass. His last tournament was in Halle where he was stunned in the opener by Felix-Auger Aliassime.
On the other hand, Mannarino looks confident as he just delivered the best run of his season by reaching the semis in the Mallorca Open most recently. He moved past the likes of Feliciano Lopez and Dominic Thiem. And to make his case a bit stronger, the Frenchman has reached three singles final on grass courts (most recently winning the Rosmalen Championships in 2019).
Federer is set to start as the favourite but it may not be a clinical game as expected of him.
