Angelique Kerber v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head
This is their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Kerber Starts on a Commanding Note
Two-time Wimbledon finalist Angelique Kerber started well in London, beating the Serbian Nina Stojanovic 6-4, 6-3 in an hour and 26 minutes. In all fairness, Stojanovic did most of the job for Kerber with 32 unforced errors (in contrast to 12 by the German).
Nonetheless, it is a positive result for the former World No. 1, who arrived for the Slam after winning her first singles title in three years. She played in the Bad Homburg Open last week where she won the trophy after beating the likes of Petra Kvitova and Katerina Siniakova.
Grass has always been among Kerber’s preferred surface (seven finals, three titles) so for her to arrive in Wimbledon on the back of such momentum means she may very well be on the way for yet another deep run.
Having struggled a bit with her form over the last couple of seasons, it is certainly a positive sign to see the 33-year-old play some phenomenal tennis, reminiscent of her wonder days.
Up until the grass swing, Kerber had struggled to make it past the early stages. The closest she came to was reaching the third round in the Italian Open and Miami Open.

Tormo Overcomes Konjuh
Sara Sorribes Tormo defeated Ana Konjuh in the first round in a little over two hours with 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Just like Kerber, Tormo too had a good run in the Bad Homburg Open last week, reaching the semifinal before succumbing to Siniakova.
The 24-year-old has had a pretty stellar season so far. She won her maiden singles title in the WTA Guadalajara, beating Eugenie Bouchard in the final. The Spaniard followed it with a semifinal stint in Monterrey and a quarterfinal run in the Miami Open.
Even though Tormo had a pretty uneventful clay season (win-loss tally of 2-5), she did well to bounce back in the grass swing. However, it is going to be a difficult task for her to go beyond, especially with Kerber standing in the way.
Kerber v Tormo Prediction and Tip
Both players are heading for this game with a fair bit of momentum and as a result, it wouldn’t be surprising if this game goes to three sets. That said, Kerber will start as the obvious favourite here owing to her experience.
