Novak Djokovic v Denis Kudla Head to Head

Two previous matches have been played between these players, with Djokovic having won both times. Both matches came in Grand Slams in 2019 including one at Wimbledon and both finished in straight sets for Djokovic.

Djokovic Continues to Dominate

While Djokovic hadn’t quite made the kind of start that he would have liked in the first round when he dropped the opening set to Jack Draper, the going has been rather smooth ever since.

The world number one and defending champion dropped just five more games in the opening round against his British opponent and then romped past his second round opposition, Kevin Anderson in straight sets.

Djokovic won 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in an hour and 44 minutes in what was a repeat of the 2018 Wimbledon final in which the Serb had registered a straight-set victory which took him to the title.

This time around, Djokovic had come into this tournament on the back of having not played a singles match on grass but he looks to have done enough to find his rhythm. The question is if he can tame Kudla, who might not be ranked too high but loves his time on grass.

Kudla Scythes Past Seppi

Kudla has never made past the fourth round at a Grand Slam but the one time he did enter that stage, it came at Wimbledon.

And that’s down to grass been his favourite surface for a while.

A look at his records seem to suggest the same. On clay, Kudla has played 19 matches in his career and won just five. And his record is something similar on hard court surfaces where he holds a win-loss ratio of 0.29.

Grass is a different beast for Kudla on which he has won 24 matches and lost just 21. Two of those wins have come at this Wimbledon, where he first stunned Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a gruelling five-setter before registering an easy 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Andreas Seppi.

Can he trouble Djokovic on grass though?

Djokovic v Kudla Prediction and Tip

While Djokovic should be a runaway favourite here, odds of 1/40 are too short to go with unless you want to pick Djokovic as a part of an acca. Instead, a Djokovic win and over 31.5 games can be expected.
