Cori Gauff v Kaja Juvan Head to Head
There have been no previous WTA main draw matches between them before this but in the qualifiers, they have faced off twice with both winning one. Juvan won at the 2019 French Open qualifying rounds while Gauff came through in three sets in Adelaide earlier this year.

Gauff Sends Out Vesnina
In a battle of two players at sharply contrasting times in their careers, Gauff didn’t need too much time to send Elena Vesnina packing in her second round encounter.
Gauff, who had earlier defeated Francesca Jones in her opener, needed an hour and nine minutes to get past Vesnina 6-4, 6-3 to reach the third round.
The American world number 23 slammed nine aces and 19 winners in her victory, breaking her opponent four times in the match. And while Gauff was herself broken once it was by when she had all but sealed the encounter.
Another win here will take Gauff to her previous best at Wimbledon which had come in 2019 but the manner in which she has played all season, it does look like she can go even further down the road at this competition.
Next up is a player who has suddenly found form.

Juvan Wins Back to Back Matches Again
Her career-best ranking on the WTA tour is 91st in the world but Juvan had come into this tournament with barely any match practice and even lesser form.
In fact the last time Juvan had won back to back main draw matches was way back at Australian Open, but what made it worse was she was on a five-match losing streak before Wimbledon.
Faced with the prospect of taking on Belinda Bencic wouldn’t have been easy but to then take down the world number 11, and in straight sets no less, would have been one big surprise.
The good news for Juvan was she managed to keep her game at the same level for her second round encounter against Clara Burel as well. In a match lasting an hour and 10 minutes, Juvan carved out a 6-3, 6-4 win to set up this meeting with Gauff.
Surely, this one is a bridge too far?
Gauff v Juvan Prediction and Tip
Gauff is a heavy favourite here and it goes without saying we would back here as well but there’s a +4.5 games handicap which can be taken advantage of.
