Aryna Sabalenka v Elena Rybakina Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between these two players and Sabalenka has won both times. Both were played on hard court surfaces, and went into a third set both times with Sabalenka’s wins taking her into the semifinals of those events.

Sabalenka A Step Away from Maiden Major Quarters
Sabalenka broke into the top four of the women’s rankings through sheer consistency which has included winning WTA titles in each of the previous five seasons including this one. In fact, since the beginning of 2019, Sabalenka has won five WTA tournaments.
The context here is despite that consistency, Sabalenka hasn’t done too well at Grand Slams having never made it past the fourth round before this. Even at French Open earlier this year, Sabalenka was one of the favourites to go all the way but all she managed was a third round appearance.
Which is why her third round drubbing of Maria Osorio Serrano that took her to the round of 16, a step away from her maiden major quarterfinal would have given her immense confidence.
The second seed, in the absence of Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep, demolished Osorio Serrano 6-0, 6-3 in an hour and 13 minutes to march into the round of 16. What’s interesting to add here is Sabalenka was broken two times in the second set and faced a break-point in each of the three service games in the first set too.
Can she now notch up the most crucial Grand Slam win of her career?

Rybakina in Ravenous Form Too
After a relatively slow start to the season, Rybakina looks to have consolidated her form in recent times. A quarterfinal appearance at French Open was followed by a semifinal in Eastbourne last week and coming into Wimbledon having never even featured in its main draw before this, she has already entered the fourth round here.
What makes Rybakina’s appearance in the fourth round even more stunning is the manner in which she’s got there.
Kristina Mladenovic was bagelled in the second set of her opening round match, Claire Liu tested her for a while in the second round but still lost in straight sets and then against Shelby Rogers in the third, Rybakina ran away with the first set even before she had time to settle down.
And while Rogers did put up a more professional display in the second set, Rybakina looked prepared for it as she broke her in the fifth game and came through 6-1, 6-4 to set up this meeting with Sabalenka.
Sabalenka v Rybakina Prediction and Tip
This is an interesting one. Sabalenka has looked to be in good rhythm and it could finally be the time she breaks the quarterfinal hoodoo but standing between her and that spot is a player who has been in some solid form too. This might not be as straightforward as Sabalenka fans might want it to be.
