Ajla Tomljanovic v Emma Raducanu Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

Raducanu Continues her Dream Grand Slam Debut

Not many people may believe that an 18-year-old, playing in her first Grand Slam here at Wimbledon, has somehow made it to the fourth round beating players more experienced and seasoned than her. This becomes all the more far-fetched when you consider that she made her debut on the WTA Tour less than 30 days ago.

But that is the story of the local favourite, London-dwelling Emma Raducanu. Competing in low-tier events up until last month, she has defied all odds and made it this far at SW19.

Having yet to drop a set, Raducanu first defeated the Russian qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko. Next, she moved past Marketa Voundrousova before meeting the veteran Sorana Cirstea in the third round.

Facing a player who has played far more professional tennis than her, the current #338 on the tour beat the Romanian 6-3, 7-5 to continue her wild run.

Tomljanovic Outlasts Ostapenko after Medical Timout

Tomljanovic is writing a bit of history herself here in London. Over the last week, she delivered her best singles run in Wimbledon, beating the likes of Greet Minnen, Alize Cornet, and Jelena Ostapenko.

That last match against the Latvian was particularly interesting. For one, Tomljanovic beat Ostapenko 4-6 6-4 6-2, despite the latter coming off a title run in Eastbourne last weekend and pegged as the heavy favourite to win here.

Secondly, the pair traded insults at the end of the match as the Australian accused Ostapenko of taking a medical break to throw her off her game (At the time, Tomljanovic was up 4-0 in the deciding set).

But a win is a win and the 28-year-old will play in the second week of a Grand Slam – for only the second time in her career so far. The last time she made it this far in a major was in the 2014 French Open.

Up until now in 2021, Tomljanovic had never managed to deliver a deep run, with most of her performances coming to an early end. The WTA Charleston may serve as some exception but even there, she made it as far as the third round.

Raducanu v Tomljanovic Prediction and Tip

This is a game that can go either way. On paper, Tomljanvoic will start as the favourite but Raducanu’s momentum can change that very quickly. Plus, the crowd will be rallying behind the Brit, giving her some advantage.
