Novak Djokovic v Denis Shapovalov Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players and Djokovic has won every single time, including one at Australian Open, Rome Masters, Shanghai Masters and Paris Masters.
Interestingly, they had also featured in the 2019 Boodles Tennis Challenge, an exhibition match on grass which Shapovalov won in straight sets.

Djokovic Masters Marton Again
They had played two times before this and Djokovic had dropped a set each time to Marton Fucsovics. This time around, Djokovic was a lot more clinical in his dismantling of Fucosvics, winning in straight sets to march into the semifinal.
Djokovic was on court for two hours and 19 minutes to cruise past his Hungarian opponent 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 and seal another spot in the last four.
The Serb helped himself to 14 break-point opportunities in the encounter, breaking his opponent four times while the only time he was broken came late in the first set when it looked all but sealed.
This win continued Djokovic’s mastery in the tournament since having lost the first set of the opening round to Jack Draper. The only time he has been remotely tested since was in the third set against Denis Kudla when he was taken to a tie-breaker and needed to stretch to win it 9-7.
And he is now up against a player who had given some portion of the clay court swing a miss to prepare for grass.

Shapovalov Overturns Khachanov Advantage
It wasn’t like Karen Khachanov did not have his chances in his quarterfinal against Shapovalov, he had plenty. It was just about the Canadian managing to keep his cool in a match of fine margins, coming back two sets to one down to claim his maiden semifinal spot at a Grand Slam.
Shapovalov was down 0-40 on serve in the sixth game of the opening set, only to come back to hold and then break his opponent from 15-40 down in the ninth.
After losing the next two sets, Shapovalov looked like he had lost steam but came back strongly to clinch the equaliser in the fourth with two breaks of serves.
The Canadian did get three chances to break Khachanov in the fifth game of the final set but it was off the fourth break-point in the ninth game that he finally managed to do that, before finishing off the three hours and 28 minutes long encounter.
With wins over Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista-Agut already under his belt, Shapovalov will have the confidence but he would know he needs a lot more than that to overcome the world number one.

As the tournament has gone on, Djokovic has looked stronger and stronger and while Shapovalov would be expected to put up a fight, expecting the Serb to win in three.
