Tereza Martincova v Viktoria Kuzmova Head to Head

Kuzmova leads 1-0 against Martincova, last beating her in WTA Lyon in three sets.

Martincova Continues her Fine Run

26-year-old Tereza Martincova has just made it to her third quarterfinal in the last four tournaments on the WTA Tour. Currently ranked World No. 78 – her best singles ranking yet, she is slowly proving herself to be one of the most consistent performers on the circuit.

The Czech has been nothing short of clinical in her performance here in Prague, beating Samantha Murray Sharan and Asia Muhammad in straight sets.

Most recently, the number eight seed also featured in the third round of Wimbledon and the quarterfinals in Birmingham and Nottingham.

What’s even more impressive is the kind of leaps she has made in the ranking. At the start of the season, when she was in the early 120s, Martincova reached the third round in WTA Dubai and the second round in the Miami Open, all as a qualifier. Those two stints helped her crack the top 100 and she has been making her way up since.

Kuzmova Topples Sramkova

Viktoria Kuzmova is heading in this match after upsetting her compatriot Rebecca Sramkova 6-4, 7-5.  Sramkova had just defeated the top seed Petra Kvitova in the Prague Open opener in three sets but couldn’t manage to emulate the same form against the 23-year-old Slovakian.

But having made it so far, she will look to go beyond but her chances of doing so, admittedly, are a bit slim. In the last three WTA events – Wimbledon, French Open, and the Miami Open, she never made it past the qualifiers. Kuzmova also participated in a couple of ITF and Challenger events but it didn’t do much for her.

In fact, a majority of her time on the tour over the last couple of years is dotted with these early-round defeats. Since 2020, there have been only three instances where Kuzmova has reached the quarterfinal in a WTA event – Lyon in 2020 and Monterrey and Prague in 2021.

Martincova v Kuzmova Prediction and Tip

Expect Martincova to win this match and reach the semifinal comfortably. She is the superior player in every aspect here and should be able to get this one in straight sets.
