2019 Finalist Bublik Primed For Title Round Again
Top seed and World No. 37 Alexander Bublik came to Newport with a 24-17 record in 2021, beginning his campaign after a second round bye. Bublik is coming of his best-ever Wimbledon showing, having reached the third round for the first time, by beating Mikhail Kukushkin and Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets but was blown away by Hubert Hurkacz in the Round of 32.
Yet to win a title on the tour, Bublik has four runner-up finishes, two of which came at the start of this year. He reached the final in Antalya, defeating Matteo Berrettini en route but had to withdraw with an injury after just two games in the final, handing the title to Australia’s Alex de Minuar. The Kazakh was also a finalist in Singapore losing to Aussie Alexei Popyrin in the decider.
Bublik was a finalist hereat Newport in 2019 losing out to John Isner for the title and will hope to push it one better this time around. He was stretched by 42-year old veteran Ivo Karlovic in the opener, but prevailed in the decider and then was a routine straight set quarter-finals win against Jason Jung.

Anderson Gaining In Confidence With Victories
2018 Wimbledon finalist Kevin Anderson came to the grass major this year ranked outside the top 100 in the world with concerns around fitness and form. He had only won four matches in the main draw of tournaments this year and resorted to playing Challengers to get much needed match practice for himself.
His build-up to Wimbledon included Nottingham Challenger tournaments and a loss at the qualifiers for the ATP 250 in Eastbourne, a reflection of how he was a shadow of the player he was two seasons ago. The South African had a mixed opener at Wimbledon but encountered a straight sets defeat in the second round against world number one and eventual Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.
Anderson seeded eighth here has recorded three consecutive wins this week, something that has not happened for a while with him. While he recorded straight set wins against Marchenko and Ofner, he was up against it with Jack Sock who is on a comeback looking good this week. Anderson came back after Sock took the first set 7-5, to register a 6-2, 6-4 win in the next two sets.
Bublik v Anderson Prediction and Tip
Bublik has had a consistent year and been in good form through the season as well as this week. Anderson is still not close to the player he was known to be but this week would have done good for his confidence getting to the final four. Expect a straight sets win for the top seed.
Tip: Bublik To Win In Straight Sets: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
