Casper Ruud v Dennis Novak Head to Head
This will be their first tour-level meeting. Ruud won a Challenger-level match in Braga in 2018.

Ruud Will Be a Favourite to Win the Title
Clay courts have always brought the best out of Casper Ruud and the 22-year-old Norwegian just keeps raising his game on the surface. A 20-5 record and two titles are an indication of how dominant he has been this season and he may not be done just yet. He will be aiming to go all the way at Gstaad in hopes of claiming a fourth career title.
Ruud, who received a first-round bye, will begin his challenge in the second round on Wednesday. His confidence will be sky high after he captured the Bastad Open crown by defeating Federico Coria in straight sets on Sunday. In what was yet another dominating performance in 2021, Ruud didn’t drop a set in the entire tournament.
He was equally dominant in Geneva, where he dropped just one set one his way to title success.
A highlight of the World No. 14’s dominance this year has been his ability to shine at the biggest stages. He was a semifinalist in Monte-Carlo and Madrid and also produced his best Grand Slam result in Melbourne, where he reached the fourth round.
With Ruud looking in great touch he will be a player to beat at the Swiss Open.

Consistency an Issue for Novak
Dennis Novak’s form has been concerning and a 4-8 season record is a clear indication of his struggles.
The Austrian, however, got off to a good start in Gstaad, racing past Poland’s Kacper Zuc in straight sets. He broke his opponent three times in the match and got broken once for a 6-4, 6-4 first round win.
This was Novak’s first win on clay this season, after he lost his two earlier matches on the surface.
Not very experienced at the tour level, the 27-year-old has a career record of 8-12 on clay. This is his second appearance in Gstaad after he made a first-round exit as a qualifier in 2019.
Ruud v Novak Prediction and Tip
Given Ruud’s form this season, expect this to be a one-sided affair with the Norwegian winning in straight sets.
Tip: Ruud to win in straight sets: 3/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
