Nikoloz Basilashvili v Lorenzo Sonego Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before, Sonego winning easily on the clay of the Rome Masters last year in straight sets for the loss of just three games.

Basilashvili Gets Off to Comfortable Start
Winner of two titles on the ATP tour this year and five in all, the Georgian began his campaign in Tokyo with an easy win over the Spanish clay court specialist, Roberto Carballes-Baena, the world number 90.
After the first three games went with serve, the Spaniard was the first to crack and drop his, and he soon found himself a double break down. He was able to recover the first of them immediately, but not the second, and Basilashvili duly closed out the first set.
The writing was on the wall for Carballes-Baena after he dropped his opening service game of the second set.
He had one break back point, could not take it and, instead, it was his service that remained under pressure. The Georgian broke him once more, and then wrapped-up the victory next game.
The match had lasted less than 75 minutes.

Sonego Staves off Nervy Moments
Sonego came perilously close to suffering an early elimination from the tournament.
Drawn against the world number 110, Taro Daniel from Japan, Sonego lost the first set after suffering the only breaking, missing the one opportunity that he had to break back.
And, when he went a break down in the second set, it look like his participation in the singles event might be over almost before it had started. However, with Daniel serving for the match, he summoned all his resolve to break him to love and it went to a tie-break.
Again, he seemed on the verge of elimination when Daniel had match point, but he saved it, and was able to convert a set-point to level the match.
He then broke Daniel in the opening service game of the third set, but the Japanese was soon This on level terms again and it went to another tie-break.
This time though, Sonego seized the advantage by going two-mini-breaks ahead. Daniel recovered one of them but, although the Japanese player saved the first match point against him, the Italian put him away with the second.
Basilashvili v Sonego Prediction and Tip
Although Sonego won their previous match very easily, that was on clay, whereas the Olympics are being played on hard courts. The Italian will have to play a lot better against the Georgian than he did against Daniel, otherwise this Olympics, at least in the singles, will definitely be over this time.
