Khachanov Sends Schwartzman Packing
It needed three sets alright but Khachanov managed to make it through to the quarterfinal of these Olympics by overcoming Diego Schwartzman in his third round encounter.
In a match which lasted a minute over two hours, Khachanov registered a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 victory, thanks mainly due to his powerful serving. 13 aces and 18 winners punctuated his showing, with Khachanov also winning a whopping 73% of his first serve points.
Khachanov, who had beaten Yoshihito Nishioka and James Duckworth in his first two rounds, broke his Argentine opponent on his very first serve attempt and then doubled the dose in the sixth game of the opening set.
Surprisingly, the Russian fell away in the second set after being on serve till the fifth game, but resurrected his game quickly enough to break Schwartzman three times in a row in the final set.
He now has a golden chance of making it four wins in a row for the second tournament in a row having done so at Wimbledon as well.

Humbert Makes Stunning Turnaround against Stefanos
It was a stunning win for Humbert as he turned things around from a set down to carve out a three-set win against the much-fancied Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round.
Humbert won 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to clinch the victory that helped him seal a shock quarterfinal berth.
Having defeated Pablo Andujar and Miomir Kecmanovic in his first two matches, Humbert was an obvious second favourite in this one, with odds of 3/1 for his win. And when he fell a set behind, those odds lengthened considerably before Humbert mounted his comeback.
The Frenchman pushed the second set into a tie-breaker with some fine serving that saw him lose just three points on his own serve whole set. And then in the third, the Halle Open winner eased through his opponent with successive breaks of serves that helped him close out the encounter with ease.
Can he now overcome Khachanov as well and move into the medal round?
