Tommy Paul v Daniel Elahi Galan Head to Head

The pair have played each other three times before, and Paul has won on each previous occasion. Two of those previous matches were on the Challenger tour, whilst the most recent was at Delray Beach last year.

Paul Nears Career High Ranking

Paul is close to his all-time singles ranking, although, having won the French Open as a junior and finished runner-up at the US Open, he has yet to enjoy success on the junior tour.

He has though appeared in 15 finals on the junior tours, winning ten of them, with his most recent victory coming in Tiburon, USA, nearly two years ago.

Like Galan he has just returned from playing in the Olympics, but his campaign there ended at the first-round stage, beaten in straight sets by the Russian Aslan Karatsev.

That was his first tournament since the French Open where he got to the second round before losing to Daniil Medvedev, because he missed the whole of this year’s grass court season.

Prior to that his best result in 2021 came in Parma, where he got to the semi-finals before losing to compatriot Sebastian Korda.

Galan Hoping to Make a Mark on Hard Courts

Galan, the Colombian number one, represented his country at the Olympics, where he beat Mohamed Safwat, the world number 173 from Egypt in straight sets in the first round.

His run though was emphatically ended at the next stage by gold medal contender Alexander Zverev.

However, it capped off the trio of major tournaments he has appeared in over the past few months, having qualified for the French Open for the second time, and then made his debut at Wimbledon where he got to the second round before losing to the Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

Earlier in the year he reached the semi-finals in Santiago on clay, where he lost to local man Christian Garin.

Paul v Galan Prediction and Tip

Paul has won their three previous meetings, and there is little to suggest the outcome will be any different this time.
