Nick Kyrgios v Reilly Opelka Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between both players on the tour.

Unpredictable Kyrgios Hoping For Good Run
Supremely talented Aussie Nick Kyrgios has not featured much on the tour this season. At the start of the 2021 season, the Aussie played the ATP 250 in Melbourne and then the Aussie Open and put up an inspired performance at both tournaments.
After taking a break from the tour for a mixed bunch of reasons, Kyrgios returned to the tour at Wimbledon where he surprised Ugo Humbert in the opener and eased past Gianluca Mager in the second before retiring from his third round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime because of injury.
Kyrgios returned to the hard courts late last month in Atlanta where he prevailed in the opener against two-time major runner-up Kevin Anderson but then lost in straight sets to Los Cabos winner Cameron Norrie.
Beginning his defense of the Citi Open he was expected to smoothly sail past American Mackenzie McDonald in the opener but lost in straight sets instead. Taking a lot of confidence from the win, the American made the finals of the Citi Open at the time of writing this article.
It is difficult to predict how well or how far the Aussie will go in the draw, but he is not one to be ruled out and can never fail to surprise all including himself ever so often. Kyrgios will be hoping for a good run in Canada that will give him plenty of confidence ahead of the US Open at the end of the month.

Opelka Seeking Consistency Ahead of US Open
Eager to return to his menacing best on the preferred hard court after an encouraging run on dirt this year, Reilly Opelka has yet to meet with much success at the US Open series.
Except an Italian Open semi-final it has been a mixed year for the American who outdid himself on clay, but had a poor run at Wimbledon. Coming to Atlanta, one expected more from him but he lost the second match he played, to Fritz and then lost the second match he played at the Citi Open to John Milman.
Winner of titles at Delray Beach and at the New York Open, Opelka is definitely well suited to the hard courts, but is yet to get momentum going and seems low on confidence.
While an opener against Nick Kyrgios is never easy, a win here will do wonders to his confidence three weeks ahead of the US Open.
Kyrgios v Opelka Prediction and Tip
This is a clash between two big servers. While one can predict how Opelka will come out, it remains to be seen which version of Nick Kyrgios shows up on Monday. Expect a good contest, but after the Citi Open disappointment expect a more focused Kyrgios to prevail in three sets.
