Dayana Yastremska v Katy McNally Head to Head

With both fairly young on the women’s Tour, Dayana Yastremska and Katy McNally have not been involved in a head-to-head meeting so far. However, with both strong hitters of the tennis ball, they will make for a fascinating watch going against each other on the sleek, hard playing surface at Cincinnati.

Yastremska Lost to Stephens in Montreal Opener

Coming into the Canadian Open on the back of an opening-round loss to American Claire Liu at the Silicon Valley Classic, Yastremska was drawn to face seasoned campaigner Sloane Stephens at Montreal.

Though the 21-year-old Ukrainian made a good feast of things against the vastly experienced American, she couldn’t get over the line in the end.

After losing the opening set 4-6, Yastremska came out swinging at Stephens in the second and staged a sensational fightback to win it 6-1.

However, the American, summoning her years of experience, managed to come out of the tight corner and pipped the Ukrainian in the decider to close out a win in three sets.

Yastremska would open her Cincinnati campaign against an opponent, who finished in the quarter-finals at the last ITF event she featured in and will hog the home support.

However, the partisan support wouldn’t put the Ukrainian off and, could, in fact, make her more determined to get the result in her favor.

McNally Coming off ITF Competitions

While already an accomplished doubles player at 19, with titles under her belt, McNally is nowhere near to where she wants to be in singles.

She failed to clear the qualifiers for the Wimbledon Championships and followed up with an opening-round exit at the Silicon Valley Classic after losing to compatriot Sloane Stephens.

Currently ranked comfortably outside the Top-100 in singles, McNally would be keen to launch her Cincinnati campaign with a win.

However, in Yastremska, she faces a rival who will be equally determined to get a result in her favor in what will be their first-ever head-to-head clash.

Yastremska v McNally Prediction and Tip

There isn’t much to put one over the other going into this opening-round encounter in Cincinnati as they both Yastremska and McNally are very young in the women’s circuit. However, one can expect a good contest with both players going hard at each other in quest of a win.
