Ons Jabeur v Anett Kontaveit Head to Head
Ons Jabeur and Anett Kontaveit have been involved in two, career, head-to-head meetings so far, with both winning one match apiece. They last met in the quarter-finals at Moscow in 2018, with the Estonian coming through in straight sets.

Basking in the glow of a golden run at this year’s Wimbledon Championships where she reached her maiden Grand Slam quarter-finals, Jabeur had set sights on going deep at the Canadian Open.
Transitioning effortlessly from the lawns of All-England to the bone-hard surfaces in Montreal, the 26-year-old Tunisian opened her Canadian Open campaign with a thumping, straight-set win over Clara Burel of France.
She followed up with a hard-fought victory over Daria Kasatkina of Russia and a stunning upset of 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu to storm into the quarter-finals.
The come-from-behind victory over the Canadian after losing the first set set her up for a last-eight meeting with feisty American Jessica Pegula.
Against the American, Jabeur got off to a dream start and won the opening set at a canter. However, Pegula, roared on by her team, brought herself back into contention by winning the second set tiebreak.
It was all Pegula in the decider as, with a spring in her step and momentum on her side, she bageled the Tunisian to eventually come through 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.
Against Kontaveit in her opening clash in Cincinnati, Jabeur faces a rival who has her measure before and could do so again.

Kontaveit Fell in Montreal Opener
Currently ranked just inside the Top-30 in singles, Kontaveit marked her return to the women’s Tour after her first-round exit at Wimbledon with an opening-round fixture against Jessica Pegula.
The Estonian started well and had the American on the ropes after cruising home in the opening set. However, Pegula lifted her game up a notch and staged a valiant fightback to go level with her on sets.
In the deciding set, the American raced to a commanding lead and held on to it to eventually eke out a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win.
Going into her opening-round clash with Jabeur in Cancinnati, the Estonian will have memories of her win in Moscow and will be keen on an encore.
However, it won’t be easy against an opponent who is coming off back-to-back quarter-final finishes.
Jabeur v Kontaveit Prediction and Tip
As the head-to-head record would suggest, there’s very little to choose between Jabeur and Kontaveit whenever they face off against each other.
However, the Tunisian would go into this opening-round clash with a better run of results under her belt and one suspects she would have more bets called in her favor.
