Fabio Fognini v Nikoloz Basilashvili Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 34-year old Italian, and the Georgian, who is five years younger.

Fognini reached the quarter-final stage in this tournament in 2014, but that was an anomaly, and he has never been beyond the second round in any of his other appearances in Cincinnati.
Better known as a clay court player, his record on the North American hard court swing is nothing to write home about, and his best result at the US Open saw him reach the fourth round six years ago.
His form in 2021 has been disappointing so far, and, as a consequence, he has dropped out of the top 20 in the world.
The Italian though did reach the third round of the Olympics before losing in three sets to Daniil Medvedev.
In Toronto last week, he beat Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round before going down to a straight sets defeat to Andrey Rublev.

Basilashvili, Twice a Winner in 2021
Off the court, Basilashvili is still facing domestic abuse charges back in Georgia, although he is now suing his ex-wife for defamation.
That did not seem to affect his tennis earlier in the year as he still won two titles, the Qatar Open and Bavarian Championships, to take his senior career haul to five.
His record though in Cincinnati is even more modest than Fognini’s he has only played here four times previously, and was knocked out in the first round on three of those occasions.
Basilashvili played for his country at the Olympics where he reached the third round before losing to the eventual winner, Alexander Zverev.
He then travelled to Toronto, where he beat the young American Jenson Brooksby, and Alex de Minaur, but lost in the third round to Hubert Hurkacz, despite claiming the first set off the Pole.
Fognini v Basilashvili Prediction and Tip
Although the lower ranked of the pair, Basilashvili is the favourite to win. He is in the better form of the pair and, on a hard court, is playing on a surface that suits his natural game.
