Karen Khachanov v Kevin Anderson Head to Head

The head to head tally is currently tied at 1-1. They last met in ATP Melbourne earlier this year where Khachanov won in straight sets.

World No. 30 Karen Khachanov will be pleased with the season he has had so far. Even though he is yet to win a singles title yet, he has made some impressive strides on the tour as a player.

Among his notable ATP performances are semifinal appearances in ATP Melbourne and Lyon, and a quarterfinal run in the Wimbledon. But the best spell of his season came at the Tokyo Olympics where he achieved a silver podium finish after making it to the final (losing to Alexander Zverev).

Most recently, the 25-year-old Russian featured in the Canadian Masters where he fell to Stefanos Tsitsipas in round three.

As for former world number eight, Khachanov has obviously got the skillset to win the trophy in Cincinnati. Over the course of his career, he has already beaten many top players like Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer, Stan Wawrinka, Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev.

Anderson Clears Qualifiers

Two-time Grand Slam runner-up Kevin Anderson continues his comeback on the tour following right knee surgery in 2020. While the veteran South African is yet to fire on all cylinders, he is slowly finding his groove.

The 35-year-old won his seventh singles title on the tour in the Hall of Fame Open in Newport in July, beating Jenson Brooksby in the final. However, Anderson failed to carry that form forward in the subsequent tournaments of Atlanta Open and Washington Open, succumbing right in the openers.

Here in Cincinnati – a tournament where Anderson’s best result entails a third-round appearance in 2018 – the #70-ranked player started as a qualifier and defeated Lorenzo Musetti and Steve Johnson to reach the main draw.

Khachanov v Anderson Prediction and Tip

Anderson has the experience (and a massive serve) that can help him beat the rising Russian star. But what he lacks at the moment is form and momentum – something that Khachanov seems to have in abundance.

Expect a good game of tennis that can very well go either way.
