Berrettini Resumes after Wimbledon Final

Berrettini will be in action for the first time since his Wimbledon final defeat to Novak Djokovic. The World No. 8 was in terrific form on grass, picking up his fifth career title by beating Cameron Norrie in the final at Queen’s and then reaching his first major final at the All England Club.

He was equally impressive on clay, winning an ATP 250 title by beating Aslan Karatsev at the Serbia Open final, reaching a maiden Masters 1000 final in Madrid only to fall agonisingly short in the title clash against Alexander Zverev, and also making the quarterfinals of the French Open for the first time.

Overall, Berrettini brings a 32-7 season record to the hard courts of North America. The 25-year-old has featured in five finals on clay and three on grass, but is yet to reach a summit clash on hard surface.

If he can pick from where he left, then it’s only a matter of time when he finds his way into a maiden hard court final. It will be a bit of test in Cincy as he has been away from the game for a while, but if he can get into the groove quickly, he would definitely be one of the players to beat.

Ramos-Vinolas Rallies to Oust Fritz

Clay court specialist Ramos-Vinolas pulled off a surprise in the first round, rallying from a set down to edge out American Taylor Fritz in a two-hour-and-17-minute battle.

The 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win was the Spaniard’s second from six matches on hard courts this year.

He had a pretty decent record on clay as usual, capturing a title in Estoril, finishing runner-up in Cordoba and reaching a couple of other semifinals. But he clearly struggled outside his preferred surface, coming to Cincy with just one win from eight matches on other surfaces.

One of those seven defeats came against Fritz in the first round at the Australian Open, but the World no. 49 got his revenge on Monday, withstanding 15 aces, converting four of 15 break points and saving three of six to move into the second round.

Berrettini v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip

Berrettini has a superior record on hard courts and if he can come back with the same vigour, he should win the contest in straight sets. However, with him being out of action for a while, he could be a bit rusty and Ramos Vinolas could capitalise on that. Expect a good game with Berrettini advancing.

Tip: Berrettini to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
