Sonego Beats Teenage Star
Sonego has created his own piece of personal history by reaching the second round in Cincinnati for the first time.
He went into his first round match with the world number 55, Carlos Alcaraz, the slight underdog according to the bookmakers, but he sued his greater experience to see off the challenge from the Spanish teenager.
It was Alcaraz who achieved the initial break of serve in the firsts et, only for Sonego to break back straight away.
The Italian then broke Alcaraz to love and served out for the set from there.
The Spaniard came under pressure on hs own serve again at the start of the second set and , having saved a break point, was then broken again. But he fought back to level and forced the set into a tie-break.
That saw fortunes fluctuate, and Alcaraz even held a set point. But he could not take it, and two dropped serves presented Sonego with a match point which he duly converted.

Paul Comes from Behind to Defeat Garin
Paul had to qualify in Cincinnati, beating first Soon-woo Kwon on South Korea and compatriot Tennys Sandgren to earn his place in the main draw.
There he met Christian Garin of Chile, the number 16 seed and world number 20, on Tuesday night.
The American started well, breaking Garin at the start of the firsts et, but two dropped service games in a row handed the advantage to the man from Chile, who closed out the set.
The second set went with serve until Paul engineered a break in the sixth game, and then saved three break back points on his own service.
That meant that a third set but at one stage it looked like neither man wanted to win. Garin went a break up only to immediately surrender his advantage, and then the same thing happened in reverse, with Paul unable to capitalise.
However, another break gave the American to serve for the match, and he made no mistake this time.
Sonego v Paul Prediction and Tip
Although Paul won their previous encounter, that was long time ago on a different surface and will have little bearing on this match. Paul has done well, having qualified, top get this far, but Sonego is developing into an all-court player, and should be able to cope with him.
