Andy Murray v Frances Tiafoe Head to Head

Former world number one and three-time major title winner Andy Murray continues his comeback trail on the North American hard courts after a second round loss to Wimbledon semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz in Cincinnati.
The Briton was scheduled to play Aussie Nick Kyrgios in a primetime Sunday night battle, but with the Aussie withdrawing at the eleventh hour due to a knee injury, Murray played local Noah Rubin.
It started off looking like a tricky encounter as Murray who was preparing for a big Kyrgios show, was down break points in his opening service game. However, the former world number one settled into his rhythm soon enough and clinched a clinical 6-2,6-0 opening round win.
This week remains crucial for Murray as he looks to get form and confidence ahead of the US Open, but will also not want to push himself too much physically in order to remain fresh and rested for the New York slam.

Tiafoe Aiming For Good Run Ahead of US Open
The US Open series for Frances Tiafoe has been typical to his runs in recent times, i.e. some good wins and some unexpected losses, but lacking the consistency needed to be a viable title contender, and this is something he will be looking to change sooner rather than later.
Tiafoe had the impressive opening day win at Wimbledon against Stefanos Tsitsipas but then followed it with a disappointing loss to Brooksby at the Citi Open. While he did well to make the round of 16 at both Toronto and Cincinnati, and an impressive win against Shapovalov at the former, he will be disappointed by his losses to veterans Gael Monfils and Diego Schwartzman respectively, neither of whom has been in good touch this season.
Ranked number 51 in the world, Tiafoe has been on the tour for a while now and will need to up the ante to be a force at par with the likes of some of the other Next Gen, who are consistently ranked in the top ten in the world.
A good run here this week will do wonders for his confidence heading to New York for the last major of the year.
