Zvonareva Coming off Cleveland Walkover
Having featured in a WTA 125 competition in Concord earlier this month and reached the semifinal, Zvonareva has struggled to get going after that.
She failed to qualify for the Cincinnati Open, losing to Ludmilla Samsonova in the very first qualifying round to begin with. And later, featuring at Cleveland Open, Zvonareva defeated the 291st-ranked Ulrikke Eikeri in her opener only to have to withdraw from her second round match.
It’s that injury which caused Zvonareva to miss that encounter which could only add to her issues, given the quality of her opposition.
