Jelena Ostapenko v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
Ostapenko and Blinkova have been involved in just one head-to-head meeting till date. The pair met in the semifinal of the Luxembourg hard court event in 2019, with the Latvian prevailing in straight sets.

Having finished in the last 16 at the Cincinnati Masters and giving the US Open a miss this year, Ostapenko came into the Luxembourg Open in the hope of lifting the title.
And, to that end, she took a big step, reaching the tournament final. However, the 30th-ranked Latvian fell at the final hurdle as she lost the championship clash with Clara Tauson of Denmark.
Though she couldn’t lift the title, Ostapenko came away with plenty of positives from the tournament. Over the course of her run to the final, the Latvian got the better of Alize Cornet of France in the quarter-final and Ludmilla Samsonova of Russia in the last four.
The momentum from Luxembourg will stand her in good stead as she launches her Ostrava Open campaign against Anna Blinkova of Russia on Tuesday.
What will give her more confidence going into the clash is the fact that she had won their only previous head-to-head battle in Luxembourg in 2019. However, even in defeat, the Russian had shown fight, taking her to three sets.
Hence, she will be wary of the threat the Russian poses ahead of only their second career meeting in the Czech city.

Blinkova Seals Ostrava Main Draw as Lucky Loser
Currently ranked 100 in singles, Blinkova recorded a win in the qualifying round but lost to Fiona Ferro in the second round of the qualifiers.
The Russian thumped Rosalie Van Der Hoek of the Netherlands in straight sets in the opening qualifier but followed it up with a 6-1, 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Frenchwoman Ferro in her next. It was only some late withdrawals that helped her get through.
However, she faces a tough tournament opener against Ostapenko, an opponent who beat her in their only previous head-to-head clash.
The confidence that she derived from her qualifying victories will put her in a good space ahead of the first-round clash but she knows she has to bring her best to the park to get even with the head-to-head score.

In terms of ranking and their head-to-head record, Ostapenko would start as a clear favorite in this first-round clash. However, Blinkova, on the evidence of her current form, would fancy an upset.
