Danielle Collins v Misaki Doi Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came earlier this year at the Phillip Island Trophy in Melbourne, where Collins routed Doi in straight sets to advance into the quarterfinals.

After having reached the third round at US Open, Collins began her campaign at this competition in Chicago with an easy opening round victory over Kirsten Flipkens.
Facing a veteran of many years, Collins needed only an hour and 21 minutes to carve out a 6-4, 6-2 win over Flipkens to seal her place in the second.
After an early exchange of serves in the first set, Collins did not have too much problems holding her serve in the rest of the match, as she saved three other break-points in the encounter.
As opposed to that, Collins broke her opponent in a crucial ninth game of the opening set, saved a break-point in the 10th and served out the first set.
Things got way easier for the American as she got back to back breaks in the third and fifth games of the second set, before clinching the match on a platter.
And she now faces an opponent ranked outside the top 100 who has struggled through her time this season.

Doi Shocks Bouzkova in Opener
Not too many expected Doi to make it past her opening round encounter against Marie Bouzkova. The bookmakers certainly did not, having pegged the Japanese player at 5/2 to shock Bouzkova.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Doi needed her time, more than three hours on court, but came through 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3 to register only her second main draw win since June this season. She had earlier defeated Storm Sanders in the first round at US Open but that forms a part of only seven wins for Doi all season.
