Jannik Sinner v James Duckworth Head to Head
Sinner and Duckworth have split their two previous career meetings. The Italian young gun won the pair’s first meeting in Cologne 2 last year, dropping just three games. But Duckworth earned his revenge at this year’s Toronto Masters, winning 6-3 6-4 en route to the Round of 16.

Sinner Holds Off Gerasimov
Jannik Sinner began his title defense at the Sofia Open in impressive style as he dismissed the big-hitting Egor Gerasimov 6-2 7-6 in an hour and 43 minutes of play.
With a 2-2 record on indoor hard courts in 2021, Sinner entered his Round of 16 match seeking his 34th win of the season – a personal at tour level. Gerasimov had scaled the qualifying rounds in Sofia, and doused the challenge of Vasek Pospisil – last year’s beaten finalist at this event.
But the Italian had the measure of Gerasimov’s flailing serve. And given Sinner’s aggressive take off the return, he was bound to put pressure on the Belarusian from the getgo.
After shaking off some early cobwebs in which he saved three breakpoints in the opening game, Sinner went on to punish Gerasimov’s failures and broke his serve two times to put the first set in the bag. Gerasimov fared poorly on serve, and particularly on his second delivery which was well below average (won 9 out of 25 points).
But Gerasimov came agonizingly close to force a third set when he served for the second set at 5-4. But his inability to close it out gave Sinner another window of opportunity. And the Italian would go on to dominate the ensuing tiebreak to win the match in straight sets.

Duckworth Moves Past Paire
One of the tour’s in-form players is Australia’s James Duckworth. The Sydney native has put together a tremendous run of results in the past month and looks poised to crack the world’s Top 50 for the first time in his career.
At 29 – which seems like a ripe old age in tennis – Duckworth has fought many battles off-court dealing with multiple, debilitating injuries. But having maintained a decent spell of good health, the new World No. 56 has performed with distinction.
His latest victory, which came under a cloud of serenity, means that he has now won 11 of his past 12 matches. The only stain of what has been an otherwise scintillating run, was the defeat in his maiden ATP final in Nur Sultan.
Duckworth moved past Benoit Paire 6-4 6-4 on Thursday after he recovered from a slow start (trailed 1-4 in the opening set) to win just over an hour and 15 minutes. He broke the Frenchman’s serve four times, and won 70% of first-serve points.
Sinner v Duckworth Prediction and Tip
Duckworth comes in as a massive underdog in this one, which is very much understandable. He has played non-stop tennis in the past couple of weeks, and we reckon he may have very little left in the tank.
Tip: Sinner to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
